Soup Kitchen

St. Paul’s Church became involved in an “Over the Rhine” soup kitchen approximately twenty years ago. The involvement was initiated by Reverend Howard Storm who served as a pastoral resident at that time.  Thanks to a team of faithful cooks and servers, the church has continued its involvement with the outreach program.

Currently, St. Paul’s Church is responsible for the soup kitchen meal on the third Saturday of each month. The volunteer cooks prepare a meal, which is then transported to the soup kitchen site and is distributed by the volunteer servers to an estimated 60-70 people. JTM has graciously provided the meat supplies for the past seven years.  The church supplements this with vegetables, salad, fresh fruit, and desserts.

The soup kitchen volunteer group hopes to grow in the coming years. As Alexandria and the surrounding communities continue to develop quickly, the group’s efforts may become more localized.
